Criteria
To be considered for our services, the following commitments are required:
Must have some clean time and commit to sober living
Must be willing to create a positive routine
Willingness to commit to a new way of living
Willingness to change old patterns of behavior
Our Services
In addition to stable, sober housing, we help facilitate the following adjunct services to create a custom program for your client:
Individual Case Assessment
Our case management services offer support to mothers, helping them establish personalized weekly and monthly goals for themselves and their children. We assist with their plans, provide ongoing support, and address any concerns they may have. We meet with mothers individually to assess their progress throughout the week.
Empowerment program
We educate women of color on past struggles of African American and Women’s History, compare the history to present efforts and identify ways to give voice through understanding how the government system works. We help women understand their purpose, which facilitates their empowerment.
Parent Support
We encourage parents to reflect on the parenting style they experienced when they were growing up. This reflection requires them to look back on their childhood and identify what aspects of their upbringing were effective and what aspects were not. We also explore different parenting styles in the context of issues faced by African American women. This approach to parenting facilitates open discussions about trauma and drug use, and challenges parents to reconsider their approach to raising children.
Mental Health & Health Care Referrals
Clients who have a pre-existing diagnosis or who need to be assessed for mental health concerns and health care issues, can get support in getting connected to health care providers in the community to get the help they need right away
Chemical Dependency
Our treatment program addresses parenting, anger, relationships, grief, and relapse in both traditional and non-traditional formats. We have developed a practical program that considers the history and culture of African Americans.
24-Hour Support
Everyone who is a part of Change To Come housing will have full support 24 hours a day and contact information to reach staff and House Manager. All emergency contact information is clearly posted near the available phones in all housing units at all times.
Workforce
We provide hands-on training for women in job skill development, job search, interview techniques, and the development of soft skills to help clients secure and maintain employment opportunities. Additionally, we are connected with workforce development agencies in San Francisco and the Bay Area.
Clients with limited or no work history, we assist in accessing community job development and training programs to enhance their skills and employability.
Re-Entry Program Coordination
Change To Come collaborates with community-based organizations to help formerly incarcerated individuals access the necessary resources and guidance required to reintegrate into society as productive, self-sufficient members. We facilitate connections between clients and agencies, providing them with the information needed to develop a proactive plan to avoid re-incarceration, maintain their freedom, and achieve independence.
Housing
We promote the success of each person by providing stable affordable housing while clients are in recovery. Serving women and men in recovery from alcoholism, drug addiction, and the cycle of abuse, we provide transitional housing and supportive services for people committed to recovery and maintaining a life of sobriety.
When a person in recovery has a place to call "home" there is a much greater chance of success. They are free to focus on their sobriety and healing without the added stress of homelessness or the crowded conditions of shelter life. They don’t have to worry about moving from place to place or wondering where they will sleep at night.
If your client meets the above criteria, you may fill out an intake form to determine if they are a fit for our transitional housing.
